Kung Pao Shrimp

INGREDIENTS

Sauce

  • 1T Dou Ban Jiang
  • 1T Soy sauce
  • 1t dark soy sauce
  • 1T vinegar
  • 1T dark brown sugar

Aromatics

  • 2T garlic minced
  • 2T ginger minced
  • 4-5 dried hot pepper cut into rings

Slurry

  • 1t corn starch
  • 1T water

Protein

  • 1lb raw shrimp
  • 1t white pepper
  • 1T corn starch
  • 1t onion powder
  • 1t garlic powder
  • 1t salt

Veggies

  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 3 large shallots

Garnish

  • 4 large spring onions cut in 1/2"
  • 1/4c peanuts (optional) cut in 1/2"

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Mix all Protein ingredients and let sit

2) Heat 2T of oil until smoking hot and cook veggies until they have color but maintain a little crunch - set aside

3) Heat 2T of oil until smoking then cook shrimp in 2 batches until barely pink - set aside

4) Add 1T of oil and cook the aromatics before then start to brown, add in sauce ingredients and cook for 3 minutes then add the slurry

5) Dump in the protein and veggies and mix well.

6) Turn off heat and stir in garnish

7) Serve over rice
